It can be accessed when driving on the road to Trakai-Prienai and turning right at Lavariškės. The mound is also known as the Mount of Fire and the Mound of Napoleon’s Hat which is why it is often mixed with the Mound Lepelionys, situated just 7 kilometers away from the Mound Lavariškės. The excavations revealed that the mound was used during the 4th-14th centuries. To the east of the mound, there are the remains of the ancient settlement which were examined in 1998 to 1999. Clay articles were found there. About 0.7 km to the south of the mound there are barrows. Only 17 barrows have survived up to present. However, most of them have been partly destroyed. Their mounds are 6 to 10 m in diameter and up to 0.7 m high with rock wreaths or ditches on their foundations.
