#LithuaniaTravel, a tourism initiative to promote Lithuania around the world, has been launched

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN) and Keliauk Lietuvoje (Travel in Lithuania) have created a social media tourism game called #LithuaniaTravel. The aim is to spread the word about Lithuania as widely as possible and encourage people to visit. Winners will be rewarded with a two-day trip around Lithuania’s ethnographic regions.
‘To attract more tourists to Lithuania, increase our country’s international visibility and promote local tourism, we are running marketing campaigns such as #LithuaniaTravel. We invite everyone travelling around Lithuania to join in, take photos of what has impressed them most and encourage their friends to discover new experiences. They will also become tourism ambassadors and contribute to the growth of inbound tourism in Lithuania,” says Agila Barzdienė, Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
Anyone can participate in the #LithuaniaTravel game, including Lithuanian residents, people with Lithuanian roots and citizens of other countries currently living abroad. All participants need to do is upload photos of Lithuania to social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, tag them with #LithuaniaTravel and share them with their followers.
The game will run until 25 September. Three lucky winners will be selected at random on 27 September, World Tourism Day, and will receive their prizes.
They will receive a travel package including at least one Lithuanian ethnographic region and at least two nature, culture, wellness, gastronomy or family tourism products, as well as one night’s accommodation for two in a 3-star hotel or two nights at a 4-Storks Rural Tourism Farmstead.
Additionally, Lithuanian tourist information centres will award prizes to those who upload the most photos of the destinations they represent.
The first #LithuaniaCo-create initiative took place last year. Between June and September 2024, posts by participants in the game reached almost 2 million social media users, of whom more than 1,500 created posts about Lithuania and invited people to visit the country.
